Pinard Falls

We visited Pinard Falls in May of 2019. The previous winter had dumped record amounts of snow in the area, and trees were down everywhere. Thankfully, the roads and trail had been cleared enough for us to reach our destination.

A photo of me taking a photo of Pinard Falls. This one turned out better than mine, ha!

Pinard is a nice 100-footer, and the trail is pleasant but unremarkable. Combine this waterfall with Moon Falls and Spirit Falls for an easy afternoon of waterfall enjoyment.

On the way to Pinard, we spotted Junetta Creek Falls from the road. Nothing exciting here, except for one more waterfall for my list!

Things to know:

  • There is no swimming or camping allowed in this area.
  • The trail can be fairly muddy.
  • The roads occasionally close in winter due to snow and ice.
  • The waterfalls on Forest Road #1790 may alternatively be accessed from Highway 58 near Oakridge, but the roads are not as well maintained as the roads from Cottage Grove.

Consider combining this trip with: Spirit Falls, Moon Falls, or Kreuger Rock Falls

Toilet / Amenities: None

How to get there:

  • Exit Interstate 5 at Cottage Grove (Exit 174) and drive east on Row River Road for approximately 19.5 miles to the junction of Brice Creek Road and Layng Creek Road #17, and turn left onto Layng Creek Road.
  • Continue on this road for 5.2 miles. Look for Junetta Creek Falls on your left.
  • Continue on Road #17 for another 3.5 miles, for a total 8.7 miles.
  • Turn right onto Forest Road #1790. At this junction, you’ll see a rest area on the left and a sign with distances to Spirit, Moon, and Pinard Falls on the right.
  • Drive 3.6 miles on Forest Road #1790, at which point the trailhead will be on your right.
